Surveillance Image Generator

Participatory speculation through computational media

Project Details

Surveillance Image Generator is a series of design and computational media experiments that engages with issues of privacy and surveillance in public spaces. These experiments include user studies, participatory workshops and a working prototype built with Open CV. The prototype uses multiple object recognition and tracking to simulate possible uses of surveillance systems in the future. The goal of the project is to help facilitate speculation about the future of surveillance in new and compelling ways by allowing users (workshop participants) to create representations of the future. Demos of images generated as a results of these experiments can be found here, here and here.
